The American Mezzo Soprano will answer questions provided by fans through Facebook and Twitter about her upcoming role in Verdi’s “Nabucco.” Barton will sing the role of Fenena alongside Placido Domingo and Liudmyla Monastryka before changing gears for a new production of Dvorak’s “Rusalka.”

The Metropolitan Opera began its Facebook Live events two weeks ago with Anna Netrebko, who answered questions about Puccini’s “Manon Lescaut.” Last week, audiences got a chance to chat with Patricia Racette, who spoke about her experience with Strauss’ “Salome” and her love as a host on the Live in HD broadcasts. Piotr Beczala recently went behind the scenes to the Met archives where he spoke about Puccini “La Boheme” and showcased historical costumes.

Barton won the Richard Tucker award in 2015 and was also the first prize winner at the Cardiff Singer of the world competition. She made her Met debut in 2009 in Mozart’s “Die Zauberflaute” and since then she has starred in revivals of Bellini’s “Norma” and Donizetti’s “Anna Bolena.” She is one of the most high in demand mezzos and this season she is slated to sing Fricka in Wagner’s “Das Rheingold” with the New York Philharmonic, Princess Eboli in Verdi’s “Don Carlo” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Waltraute/2nd Norn in Wagner’s “Gotterdammerung” at the Houston Grand Opera. Barton recently released her first CD album entitled “All who wander” with Delos.
